Chegaga Spirit is a local eco-tourism company in Southern Morocco committed to providing high-quality, ethical, and professional Sahara experiences for single travelers, couples, and groups. Our Morocco camel trekking tours directly benefit the families and community of our village, M’Hamid El Ghizlane.
Our carefully picked, local team works together to bring to you the best Sahara desert experience possible. Each of our guides was born in the desert into a Saharawi nomadic family. After 10+ years of experience, they are ready to give you a safe, high-quality, and authentic Morocco desert adventure.
For us, eco-tourism preserves our nomadic culture. This way of life, so important to our ancestors for generations, was lost when many nomads settled down due to climate change. Through our authentic Sahara tours, we can still teach others how nomads in the desert moved, survived––and thrived––in this unique and beautiful landscape. Our rich stories, unique techniques for everyday life, and tasty traditional meals, are all celebrated on our Morocco desert tours.

my name is Said ! I was born in 1991 as the first child in a nomadic family. As I was born in the middle of the desert, I don’t know my exact birthday! After some years of living a nomadic life, climate change forced my family to leave the Sahara and settle down in M’Hamid El Ghizlane.
Even if my family and I are no longer nomadic, my heart will always be in the desert. Today, I keep the culture of my nomadic people alive by sharing it with curious visitors from around the world.

Ismail & Said: Two amazing and funny cooks who will amaze you with their delicious moroccan dishes (harira soup, tajine, homemade bread…) and their smiles.
Brahim: A super kind and amazing guide who will support and help you with all your needs, responsible for the management and safety of the camels.
Salamat & Lazgam: Two white and black camels who will join you in your adventure through the Sahara.

Toadal C2024-03-08The real deal! The huts are very nice and clean, with electric lighting and running water. Said is an excellent host who was able to organise a trek + camping in the desert for me, and at the last minute a second day by 4x4 out to the high, wild dunes. All this despite the fact that I was travelling solo during high tourist season, and still for a good price. I had excellent guides (merci encore Othman!) who showed me a slice of the real Sahrawi life, taught me a lot and made my short stay into an unforgettable experience! I recommend coming with a friend or two (it's cheaper and even more fun!) and staying for at least 2-3 nights. Get in touch with Said in advance and see what he recommends!
Vanessa G2024-03-07THE place to be in M'hamid ! The best place to be in M'hamid! Whatever you want to stay in a lovely timber house or go to a trip into the desert with camels and bedouins ! Even 4x4 trip is possible. Moreover cooking is delicious and Saïd is a wonderful Host.
Debo D2024-02-01Magical place Words are missing to describe the amazing time we had. If you are looking for an authentic experience, this is the place to go. The camp is located outside of M'hamid in a very beautiful and quiet location, where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset with an incredible view 360° around you. Said is a very special man, he's welcoming you with open mind and open heart and is willing to share his lifestyle to the fullest. There is no show around nothing, everything is just authentic, simple, peaceful and so inspiring. We had the chance to spend a night in the desert. The trip was great, food was delicious and the night around the fire was full of chats, jokes and laughs. It was my second time after meeting Said 4 years ago and I am so happy to see his project evolving this way. I can fully recommend this place!! Thanks again for everything.

Magical Snow Treks2023-11-254 day trek and camp out under the stars . AHH well this is just the best thing to do. If you want an authentic experience in the desert then Said is your man. You can stay at Basecamp, or choose a trek to journey into the desert. The food was amazing and Said and Mohamid and Ismael and his team are excellent. Thank you so much we will be back xx
Discover350487470092023-11-16Wonderful camel trek with a magnificent night under the starry sky We were looking for a simple desert tour: no group, no car, no luxury camp, camels for the luggage and then exploring the desert on foot. And that's exactly what we found with Said and Ismail! Excellently organized and 100% recommended. The two nomads adapted the tour to our wishes and so six of us (2 camels, 2 nomads and us) hiked through the desert. Before we arrived in Mhamid we had already sorted everything out with Said, great and easy communication. He picked us up in the town center, we collected the fresh purchases for our 2-day tour and then drove to his base camp on the outskirts of Mhamid. There we loaded the camels and started our hike. At lunchtime we took a relaxing break in the shade of a tree and Said and Ismail prepared a delicious lunch. Then we continued into the desert until we set up camp for the night in a dune shortly before sunset. While we were enjoying the landscape and the sunset, dinner was already being prepared: an absolute highlight! Said and Ismail are excellent cooks! Thanks to the good weather, we were able to sleep outside and enjoy the magnificent starry sky. The next morning we sat on a dune to watch the sunrise, had a delicious breakfast and then set off back. Overall, a comfortable and really great hike and experience. Price/performance: Great! Food: Excellent, we had requested vegetarian and this was also implemented perfectly. Communication before and during the tour was in good English and very informal and pleasantly relaxed.
